Davco Grout Calculator — Australia & Asia Coverage Guide

A grout coverage calculator for Davco products, built the way the Davco data sheets are built: pick the product, and the tool computes kg/m² from joint geometry, then cross-checks itself against the row Davco actually prints — the Elite G10 table in Australia, the Davcogrout fine and coarse tables across South-East Asia, and the 3-part epoxy kit that sells in square metres per kit instead of kilos per square metre.

Measurement points

Inside a Davco data sheet: the four numbers that drive every kg/m² figure

Every Davco grout calculator query resolves to the same four printed fields. Read them in this order and the coverage table stops being a wall of decimals — it becomes a short chain you can audit with a tape measure. The deconstruction below shows where each number comes from, what the math does with it, and where the errors creep in.

Data-sheet rowWhat it tells youHow the math uses itWhere errors creep in
Tile size & thickness
e.g. 200 × 200 × 8 mm
Sets how many joint lines cross each square metre, and the joint depth — the thickness dimension.Joint volume = 2 × width × depth ÷ tile side, in litres per m². Halve the tile and the volume doubles.Plastic spacers left in the joints reduce usable depth; the table assumes clean, raked joints.
Joint width column
1 / 3 / 6 / 8 mm (Elite G10)
Each column is a linear scale: 6 mm consumes exactly twice the 3 mm column for the same tile.kg/m² scales linearly with width — interpolate between printed columns, never guess beyond 8 mm on G10.Undersized floor tiles drift wider mid-run; a 3 mm layout that averages 4 mm under-buys by a third.
Bulk density
1.4 kg/L (G10) · 1.8 kg/L (Easy Grout)
Converts litres of joint void into kilograms of powder — the number your trolley actually cares about.kg/m² = L/m² × density. Premixed pails quote volume instead, so the multiply step disappears.Thailand's Clean Grout prints 0.80–1.0 kg/L. Feed it a generic 1.6 and you overbuy ~70%.
Wastage note
"does not include wastages"
Davcogrout's fine and coarse tables are pure geometry; Elite G10's table is pre-rounded upward.Pure tables get +10% added; pre-rounded tables get nothing — the tool applies this per product.Stacking a 10% buffer onto Elite G10's printed 0.5 kg/m² buys up to 60% more grout than the wall needs.

Data-sheet tip

The epoxy sheet's own batching rule: grout 2–4 m² at a time before clean-up. Size your workspace to the pot, not the pot to the room.

Double-count warning

Elite G10 at 200 × 200 × 8 mm @ 3 mm: raw geometry is 0.34 kg/m², the table prints 0.5. That 47% margin is already inside the number — don't add waste twice.

Catalogue don't

Never carry a China-market 25 kg bag figure into an Australian Elite G10 job — different lines, different densities, different tables entirely.

The algorithm

The Davco kg/m² algorithm, step by step

Davco never publishes the formula — it publishes tables. This is the arithmetic the tables are made of, written out so a davco tile grout calculator search can be answered with a phone, a tape measure and three multiplications.

Step 1

Measure the joint, not the room

For square tiles: joint volume (L/m²) = 2 × joint width (mm) × joint depth (mm) ÷ tile side (mm). A 300 × 300 × 8 mm floor at 3 mm joints holds 2 × 3 × 8 ÷ 300 = 0.16 L/m². Depth is tile thickness — the grout fills the joint from bedding to surface.

Step 2

Convert litres to kilograms

Multiply by the product's density: 0.16 L × 1.4 kg/L = 0.22 kg/m² of Elite G10 geometry. Davcogrout fine and coarse re-derive at 1.6–1.67 kg/L; the Thai Clean Grout computes at 0.80–1.0 kg/L. The product you hold decides the number.

Step 3

Apply the margin policy

Davcogrout's sheet says its table excludes wastages → add 10%. Elite G10's table is already rounded up → add nothing. Then divide by the pack and round: total ÷ 5 kg bags for G10, ÷ 20 kg for Davcogrout, ÷ one kit per 30 m² anchor for the epoxy.

Worked example: 60 m² kitchen floor in Elite G10

600 × 600 × 8 mm porcelain, 3 mm joints — the exact row Davco prints

0.2 kg/m²

Elite G10 table, 600 × 600 column

Buy

3 bags

60 m² × 0.2 = 12 kg ÷ 5 kg, rounded up

Notice the gap between steps: geometry says 7 kg, the printed row says 12 kg. The printed row wins because Davco's rounding already carries the site realities — joint corners, hogged-out edges, and the half-bag you can't buy. That is also why this page's planner anchors to the sheet figures instead of raw geometry.

Catalogue map

One logo, four catalogues: Davco across Australia, New Zealand and Asia

Davco began as an Australian tile-adhesive house, spent two decades inside ParexGroup as ParexDavco, and joined Sika when Sika bought Parex in 2019. The rebrand never unified the catalogues: the bag you find depends on the country, and so does the packaging format the coverage math must divide by. This is the map a generic grout calculator cannot draw.

Australia & New Zealand

Flagship grouts: Elite G10 (premium flexible CG2 WA, 5 kg bags, 15 colours AU / 10 colours NZ as "Davco Elite Grout"), Easy Grout (premixed 2 L pails, 1.8 kg/L, joints 1–5 mm, no efflorescence), and the 3-part Epoxy Grout kit.

Math style: coverage printed in kg/m² (cement) or m² per kit / per 2 L pail (epoxy and premixed). Elite G10 rows include rounding margin; Easy Grout quotes per-pail areas like 28 m² of 600 × 600 tile at 1.5 mm.

🇲🇾

Malaysia, Singapore & South-East Asia

Flagship grouts: Davcogrout fine and coarse in 1 kg, 3.5 kg and 20 kg bags — fine for joints to 3 mm, coarse for 3–12 mm. Exterior work mixes with Davco Grout Admix Plus RL 1000 instead of water.

Math style: pure-geometry consumption tables at 1.6–1.67 kg/L implied density with an explicit "no wastages included" disclaimer — add your own 10%.

🇹🇭

Thailand

Flagship grout: Davco Clean Grout — CG2 WA polymer-modified with anti-mould, anti-bacteria and anti-algae formula, 1 kg bags (10 per box), 25 colours, joints 1–6 mm, EN 13888 and ANSI 118.6 listed.

Math style: density printed at 0.80–1.0 kg/L — deliberately lighter than cement norms — with a per-size consumption table from 1-inch mosaic to 24-inch formats.

🇨🇳

Greater China (德高 Davco)

Flagship grouts: the PD series — PD-19 colour tile grout in 25 kg bags for 1–5 mm joints (pool-safe, anti-mould), PD-20 two-in-one paste for paper-faced mosaic dosed at 4–6 kg/m².

Math style: kilos per square metre at the tile size, sold in 25 kg sacks — a package five times the Australian G10 bag, so bag-count math never transfers.

Reading the three tables together: a 20 × 20 mosaic moves from 1.8 kg/m² (G10, 1 mm) to 2.4 (fine, 1.5 mm) to 10.0 (coarse, 12 mm) — a 5.5× spread created purely by joint width and dosing philosophy. Meanwhile the epoxy turns the question inside out: instead of asking "how many kilos per m²", it answers "how many m² per kit", which is why the planner above converts it back to kg/m² — roughly 0.36 at the 300 × 300 anchor — so all four products can sit in one shopping list.

Davco grout FAQ — from the data sheets, not the marketing

Is there an official Davco grout calculator?

Yes — Davco Australia publishes a Davco Grout Calculator alongside its Grout Colour Selector and System Selector at davcoaustralia.com.au/davco-solutions, and Sika's Thai site runs a consumption calculator for Davco Clean Grout. Those are the contract quantities for tendering. This page is the independent route for the Davco tile grout calculator searches: it shows the kg/m² arithmetic behind the printed tables, converts between the 5 kg Elite G10 bag, the 1 / 3.5 / 20 kg Davcogrout bags and the 1.5 L epoxy kit, and maps which product name you will actually find in each country.

How much grout do I need per square metre with Davco Elite G10?

The Elite G10 coverage guide prints, for 8 mm thick tiles: 200 × 200 mm at 3 mm joints = 0.5 kg/m², 300 × 300 mm = 0.4 kg/m², 300 × 600 mm = 0.3 kg/m² and 600 × 600 mm = 0.2 kg/m²; at 6 mm joints those same tiles run 1.1, 0.7, 0.5 and 0.4 kg/m². A 5 kg bag therefore covers roughly 10 m² of 300 × 300 flooring at 3 mm joints. For anything outside the table, compute joint volume in litres per m² and multiply by the 1.4 kg/L bulk density — then compare against the printed row, which already sits above raw geometry.

What is the difference between Davcogrout fine and coarse?

They share one data sheet but split by joint width. Davcogrout fine is the unsanded grout for joints to 3 mm — the sheet lists 1.20 kg/m² for 20 × 20 × 5 mm mosaic at 1.5 mm joints falling to 0.072 kg/m² for 600 × 600 × 12 mm at 1.5 mm. Davcogrout coarse is the sanded grout for 3–12 mm joints, where the same 20 × 20 mosaic at 3 mm jumps to 2.50 kg/m² and 12 mm hits 10.00 kg/m². Mixing ratio differs too: fine wants ~0.33 L water per 1 kg bag, coarse wants ~4 L per 20 kg bag.

How many square metres does a Davco Epoxy Grout kit cover?

One 3-part kit — 1.5 L resin + 1.5 L hardener + 7.5 kg of Part C powder — covers 30 m² of 300 × 300 × 10 mm tile at 3 mm joints, 18 m² at 5 mm and 9 m² at 10 mm, straight from the kit coverage table. Small formats drop fast: 50 × 50 × 6 mm mosaic yields only 8 m² per kit at 3 mm joints. Because the mixed epoxy has a working window, the sheet tells you to grout only 2–4 m² at a time before clean-up, so plan whole kits per room, not fractions.

Is Davco the same as Parex and Sika?

Davco spent years in the market as ParexDavco under the ParexGroup umbrella; Sika acquired Parex in 2019, so today's bags read 'Davco, A SIKA BRAND' and current data sheets live on sika.com.au and the Sika country sites. For quantity maths nothing changed — the Elite G10 and Davcogrout coverage tables kept their printed values through the rebrand, and a 'Parex Davco grout calculator' search lands on exactly the same numbers this page reproduces.

Why does Davco packaging look different in China?

The Chinese Davco (德高) line is engineered for its own market: the PD-19 colour tile grout ships in 25 kg bags covering 1–5 mm joints, and the PD-20 two-in-one paste for paper-faced mosaic is dosed at roughly 4–6 kg/m² for 45 × 45 mm tiles. Neither figure transfers to the Australian 5 kg Elite G10 bag or the South-East Asian 20 kg Davcogrout — same logo, different catalogue. Always match the calculator row to the country you are buying in.

Does the Davco printed coverage include wastage?

It depends which sheet you are reading — and this is the trap most Davco grout calculator searches miss. The Davcogrout sheet states plainly that its consumptions 'do not include wastages', so you add your own 10% margin on top of 1.6 kg/L geometry. The Elite G10 table, by contrast, already sits 40–50% above raw joint geometry at its 1.4 kg/L density — the printed 0.5 kg/m² for 200 × 200 × 8 mm at 3 mm is 0.34 kg of pure geometry plus Davco's rounding. Adding another 10% to that printed number double-counts the safety factor.

How is Davco Clean Grout in Thailand measured?

Davco Clean Grout is the Thai-market CG2 WA polymer-modified grout in 1 kg bags (10 per box), rated for 1–6 mm joints in 25 colours. Its data sheet prints a density of just 0.80–1.0 kg/L — well below the 1.6 kg/L of a typical cement grout — and its consumption table reflects that: a 4-inch tile at 10 mm thickness needs 0.34 kg/m² at 1 mm joints and 1.02 kg/m² at 3 mm. If you feed generic cement densities into those joints you will overbuy by half; match the row to the bag you are holding.

Going deeper

The epoxy kit table above is the Australian packaging of a larger story — every 100% solids epoxy on the market is really a volume product in disguise. The epoxy grout calculator works the full kit-volume math for any 2-part or 3-part system, and the main grout calculator handles the bag-weight side for cement grouts of any brand.
